Ask Your Data Warehouse Questions With a Model You Host Yourself
Short abstract (for the agenda):
A live demo of db-agent, an open-source text-to-SQL agent, querying a Databricks warehouse using a local LLM through Ollama. No model API, no per-question token bill, nothing leaving your network. I'll also show the guardrail that stops the agent from running a destructive query.
Longer version (if they ask for one):
Text-to-SQL is everywhere now. Running it on a metered model API means every question has a price, and many teams can't send schema to an outside model at all. In this demo I'll run db-agent with a local model through Ollama against a Databricks SQL warehouse on AWS. You'll see what a self-hosted model handles well, where it fails, and the read-only safety layer that keeps it from changing data. Code is open source: github.com/db-agent/db-agent
