What we’re about
This group is for writers who want to learn about how to get published and improve their craft. Once a month, we will be hosting speaker events from publishing industry professionals with fun socializing after.
Whether you're a new writer embarking on your writing journey, an emerging writer with a book project underway, or a seasoned writer with a published book, this community aims to provide a space for writers to create a sustainable writing practice, learn about the industry and have a network of support from like-minded people.
Even if you're a new writer or haven't finished writing that book, we want to arm you with the knowledge and resources once you're ready to take that next step to getting published!
Through your support, we hope to curate events led by professionals in the publishing industry, such as: query letter writing workshops, query letter critiques, first page critiques, how to find a literary agent, advice on self publishing, advice on traditional publishing, writers' talks, etc. So please RSVP and help build the community!
Join us for an evening of industry and craft or to just hang out in a safe and inclusive space!

A night of sharing our work as writers
May 15, 2025
7pm at Imperial Pub (54 Dundas Street East) - backroom (main floor)This is our first proper pub-like event in a long while. This is an open mic - anyone who wants to read can present at a microphone.
Please contact me here on Meetup or elsewhere (Instagram), or the night of (though it is first come, first serve). Any genre is welcome. Bring your poems, songs, excerpts from novel, spoken word, short stories... but you are free to just come in and listen (it's not like Fight Club where you have to read if it's your first night). There will be plenty of time for socializing and networking before and after the readings.
The event is free, but there will be a Pay What You Can bowl passed around. Please donate if you can, even just a little, but if you got nothing to spare, no worries! See you there! Bring friends!
