What we’re about
This group is for writers who want to learn about how to get published and improve their craft. Once a month, we will be hosting speaker events from publishing industry professionals with fun socializing after.
Whether you're a new writer embarking on your writing journey, an emerging writer with a book project underway, or a seasoned writer with a published book, this community aims to provide a space for writers to create a sustainable writing practice, learn about the industry and have a network of support from like-minded people.
Even if you're a new writer or haven't finished writing that book, we want to arm you with the knowledge and resources once you're ready to take that next step to getting published!
Through your support, we hope to curate events led by professionals in the publishing industry, such as: query letter writing workshops, query letter critiques, first page critiques, how to find a literary agent, advice on self publishing, advice on traditional publishing, writers' talks, etc. So please RSVP and help build the community!
Join us for an evening of industry and craft or to just hang out in a safe and inclusive space!

See all- OPEN MIC NIGHT XImperial Pub, Toronto, ON
Hello Fellow Writers,
Good news; our Tenth Open Mic Night has been booked. It takes place Monday, August 25, 2025 at 630pm - 930 in our usual venue, the Imperial Pub (54 Dundas Street West). <-- Recommended spot in general.
Here it is, our Open Mic X and X marks the spot!
This month we could book a Monday (busy month), which is fine, especially in late August because September is coming and that usually means many of us need to get used to being busy on Mondays. We had a great event in June on a Monday, and I figure we can get lots of people there if we promote early. Sorry to those of you who prefer other days, especially Garfield.
Bring your work, whether you want to go on the stage and read some of your poetry, novels, short stories, plays, commentary, etc. The event is free, though there is a Pay What You Can Donation bowl the night of. You can also help me pay for the fee directly at the gofundme if you want.
This Open Mic event is FREE first and foremost, free to attend, free to perform. Imperial Pub has a really good menu with lots of variety, food and drink. The event takes place in the back room on the ground floor.
See you there!
