Introducing DAX User-Defined Functions (UDF)
This session introduces the DAX Used-Defined Functions, the new feature announced in 2025!
A user-defined function is a DAX formula with parameters that can return values or tables. Parameters can be passed by value or by expression. In this session, you learn how to define and consume user-defined functions in your semantic model.
Marco's profile:
Marco is a business intelligence consultant and mentor. He first started working on Analysis Services in 1998, back when Analysis Services was known as OLAP Services.
A veteran of end-to-end projects, Marco wrote several books with Alberto Ferrari about Power BI, Analysis Service, and Power Pivot. They also regularly write articles and white papers that are available on sqlbi.com. Marco is a Microsoft MVP and an SSAS Maestro, the highest level of certification on Microsoft Analysis Services.
Today, Marco focuses his time with SQLBI customers, traveling extensively to train and consult on DAX and data modeling for Power BI and Analysis Services. Marco also teaches public classes worldwide.
Marco is a regular speaker at international conferences like Microsoft Ignite, PASS Summit, and Sqlbits. He also enjoys delivering evening sessions at local user groups during his trips.
When he is not working, you can find Marco fine tuning his expertise of Neapolitan pizza or test driving electric cars.

Simon's profile: Principal Program Manager, Fabric CAT, Microsoft
Simon is a business intelligence leader with many years of experience deploying advanced analytics, data warehousing and process automation solutions for some of the biggest companies in the world.
He is a known figurehead in the Toronto BI and analytics scene, where he enjoys giving presentations on the Microsoft business intelligence stack. He is known to be extremely passionate about Power BI, but also on-premise SQL Server Data Tools and the Azure cloud data ecosystem.
More recently, Simon has provided consulting on modern data warehouse development using many tools within the Azure cloud infrastructure, such as: DevOps, Synapse, Purview, Logic Apps, Functions (C#, PoSH, & Python), Event Hubs, Log Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks (Scala, Python), and Power BI.
Simon has combined these services in a variety of applications.
