(Online Event) ASL practice on Zoom

Details

Let's practice ASL together! Join us weekly on Zoom. Discussions are voice-off, turn-based and facilitated. All skill levels are welcomed. Participants with at least basic fluency (fingerspelling and some basic signs) will benefit most.

How to join video chat:

  1. RSVP ahead of meeting. (Only those who have RSVPed will see the link to join the meeting)
  2. At meeting time, click the link. You will be directed to Zoom after passing the finger spell check.
  • computers with Zoom installed (you can still run on browser without installing app, but you may not see everyone at once on screen)
  • tablets / smart phones (limited real estate on a smaller device cannot display all participants at once)

Remember to be a good participant:

  • VOICE OFF (mute your device avoid background noise. In case your ASL is rusty, common alternatives are: gesturing or sending a text message on the chat.)
  • Avoid virtual backgrounds (it makes fingerspelling difficult to read)
  • Be courteous and considerate.
  • Wait for your turn to sign to avoid confusion.
