Come join us for a more relaxed ride out to Whitby and back.
- Ride duration
- About 3.5 hours of cycling time
- ~1.75 hours there and ~1.75 hours back, plus a break at the midpoint
- About 55km there and back
- Locations
- Starting: Eglinton Go (intersection of Eglinton Ave E and Bellamy Rd) SOUTH PARKING LOT, EAST END of that lot. (This is the main, large lot on the south side of the tracks.) If you arrive on the North side, there is a tunnel under the tracks you can use to get to the South Lot.
- Mid-point: Veteran's Point Gardens, Waterfront Trail, Ajax, ON L1S 7K2
- Ending: Eglinton Go (depending where people need to go, people can break off).
- Route conditions:
- Path type: Paved/ Dedicated;
- Some of the initial part of the ride will be on the road
- Distance (total): Approximately 50KM;
- Ride requirements:
- Average speed: ~22-23 KM per hour average by the end of the ride (we can revise this at the start based on attendees) On flats we go about 26-28kmph
- Break(s): We will have intermittent breaks
- Bike type: Any, but a hybrid or road bike is better suited for the target speed;
- Helmets are absolutely required. NO exceptions. I will not lead a ride with participants who aren't suitably protected
- While this is a daytime ride, marker lights are always a good idea
- Additional notes:
- This will be a NO DROP ride
- This ride is weather permitting. If conditions are uncertain the deciding time is 7 PM the night before the event;
- Please be on time and respect your RSVP; We will leave on time;
- Feel free to bring a guest provided they can follow all the instructions on this post;
- This ride aims to be gender-balanced and inclusive;
- By taking part in this event you attest: a) you are in good health, b) you participate at your own risks, and c) you release the organizer(s) from any responsibility and/or liability whatsoever;
