About us
Are you thinking of making friends and extend your social circle by going volunteering, learning things, or doing good together? You are looking at the right place.
If you dig deeper, you will find us actually a social org :). For volunteers, and working professionals. High-energy and interactive, structured activities and meeting lots of new people — come ready to participate, not to spectate.
The things we do are very simple, meaningful things in beautiful settings, so connections happen organically, from shared purpose and experience.
Friendship through civic engagements and shared learnings. That is us - a volunteer community that runs events, for the new in towns, the young professionals etc. people in transition.
-----------
So if there is a guild for volunteers that do so socially, excluding the court ordered and school requested ones, that would probably be us :). Yes, most of us are professionals active in their fields, and we take care of our volunteers, mostly from the social side as well. In doing so, we also take on organizing social for the general community as our duty.
We are active mostly in public community events, from huge city parades to suburb town festivals to professional conferences, down to neighborhood fairs, and even other meetups. Perfect occasions for you to join, go places & meet people, check things out, with a group.
We encourage active participation, you can volunteer not only for others' events, but act as hosts as well. We set the stage, you step up and shine.
--------------
These are the main kinds of volunteering and social we do:
- Outdoor, with state parks and other nature orgs.
- Civic, with festivals, big community events etc.
- Professional, with conferences & expos
- Social, we organize community social as a service.
If you are a transplant, community involvement gives belonging. So if you are going through life stage changes, you could take good use of these activities, find your people, (re)build your network, and settle here as your new home base,
So these self-aid and community building is directly in proportion to your social engagement. The more you volunteer & host, the more chances of connection you will make. In hunger of more social chances? Participate and host.
There are different roles to play in helping with a social event, ranking up:
Guide: Be there, be seen
Connector: Talk with people, get people connected.
Host: Read the room, read group's energy. Facilitate others to step up.
Captain: Adapt & organize event series.
We started as festival volunteers organizing social, and we plan to stay true to our community roots. We believe people & social skills can be picked up, as we did. So no charisma required to participate and help yourself, then others. A warm heart, a willingness to try will do. Come to meet your fellow others that share a community heart.
------------
We cooperate with many orgs around town, so you may see our events posted in other places as well.
And our goal? A gateway to local community social, a connection layer to community events, a student activity center for post-college life, a social engine for connections, a town square for working professionals. Oh, have we mentioned some salt? :)
Join an event. Introduce yourself. Find your people. Build the belonging you have been waiting for.
At the end of day, we want to provide belonging, warmth, shared purpose, a human face that says "you're welcome here."
So, Welcome aboard :)

Discover SF -- Pride Parade & Festival, Social & Volunteering
The Grove Yerba Buena, 690 Mission St, San Francisco, CA, USIf there is one parade to attend in SF, it should be the Pride.
If there is one festival to volunteer in SF, it should be the Pride.1 ~ 1.5 million people, all colors, costumed cheering crowd lining up market street, non stopping music and energy, a defining event for San Francisco, one of the biggest celebrations on Earth. This is an eye opening memory making event, come open minded.
Previously we had separate festival social and volunteering. By what we learned from all our experiences so far -- Chinese New Year, Cherry Blossom, Carnaval etc., we are going in a combined Parade Watching + Festival Volunteering format this time.
Volunteer Insider Track:
Volunteering gives our afternoon festival experience an anchoring purpose, instant insider position, freedom to access, and nod and smile from hundreds of other volunteers stationed throughout the festival. We aim for the 2-6:30pm time frame. Register your shifts at:
https://turnoutinc.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=97016Optional Experience Visitor track:
Browse the Festival, Visit the volunteers, then socialize together after shift. The day would look like this: Gather, Watch the parade together, Work the festival side by side, and possibly Share a meal afterwards. Join for all of it or part of it.
📋 THE PLAN
Date: June 28 Sun.
Location: The Grove, 690 Mission St.
☕ 9:45 AM — Meet at The Grove – Yerba Buena. Coffee, introductions, and a quick warm-up before the crowds thicken. This is where you find your people for the day.
🚶 10:15 AM — We walk to our parade viewing spot on Market Street (between 3rd & 4th), ahead of the 10:30 step-off.
🎉 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM — Parade time! Floats, marching contingents, music, and a wall of joy moving up Market. As the parade flows toward Civic Center, we drift with it.
🌮 12:00 – 1:30 PM — Festival lunch at Civic Center. Grab food, hydrate, explore, recharge.
💪 2:00 – 6:30 PM — Volunteer shift at the festival. This is the heart of the day. Working an event together is the fastest way strangers become friends — there's a job to do, and you're doing it side by side.
Not volunteering? No problem — roam the festival and meet us at the regroup point.
🍻 6:30 PM — Regroup and walk to Hayes Valley together.
🍽️ ~7:00 PM — Group dinner & appetizers in Hayes Valley. The day lands here. Stories, food, and the people you just spent it with.🚇 GETTING THERE
• BART/Muni: Montgomery or Powell station, short walk to 690 Mission St
• Caltrain: 4th & King, ~20 min walk or short Muni ride to Yerba Buena
• Note: Market Street will be closed for the parade — transit is strongly recommended
💡 TIPS
