[MUSIC DISCUSSION] TPOP's Best Songs of 2023

For our last TPOP meeting of the year, we’re celebrating and looking back on some of the songs that rocked our collective worlds in 2023. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to compile a list of up to ten of the best songs you heard for the first time this year. The songs themselves don’t have to be from 2023 as long as they were new to you in 2023. As usual, you can post your list in a comment or DM me. (Submitting songs is not required to attend--you can just discuss other people's songs if you like.)

Like our first year-end event last year, each person who submitted will get a “turn” when we focus on their songs specifically. During each turn, we’ll discuss that person’s picks, asking questions, contextualizing the music, cracking jokes, and doing our usual thing. We may also get into the year in music generally, commenting on general trends and notable developments.

I suggest submitting your songs early if possible–right now the playlist only has my top ten, so the faster we build it up, the more time we’ll all have to listen and find some new favorites. We’ll be meeting on Sat. December 9 at 8pm at the Casual Pint in Chapel Hill as usual, outside if it’s warm enough, inside if not.
