Grubumuz hakkında
If you enjoy movies, this is the group for you! We meet several times per month and try to hit 'em all: blockbusters, art house favorites, award-watch films, indies, foreign, anniversary screenings, special events, etc.
We'll plan to get together at least 3 times per month. If you have a request, send me an e-mail! We will usually combine some kind of optional dinner/drinks along with the movie. The best part about seeing movies is sharing the experience with others.
We'll try to post events in advance to help you plan, but because of the nature of the business, sometimes movies will change theaters or just disappear entirely. We’ll set up the event based on the best info available at the time, but understand that show times or even venues may change. All dates, times, and locations will be confirmed a few days before the show, so be sure to check the meet-up page or your e-mail before you go.
Also, please remember that this is primarily a friendship-making, movie-watching group and not a singles group. If romantic connections are your goal and they happen naturally and are mutual, that’s wonderful! But, certain behaviors can not be tolerated. Please let me know if you observe or experience any of the following and the offending member will be removed from the group.
• Sending unsolicited e-mails, messages or greetings or any unwelcome contact with members in person, via phone or other social media apps.
• Hitting on members at events, or creepy / overbearing / weird conduct.
• Solicitation on the Meetup site or at the events please.
Also, please keep in mind that events listed in the "Discussions" page are not official meetup events and no organizer will be present. I recommend attending only official events where an Organizer will be present. However, if you do attend movie showings set up by members in the Discussions page or elsewhere, please use caution and only attend if you personally know the individual.
Thanks for your help in keeping this a happy, chatty, safe, movie-watching group of friends!
Take care & see you soon!
Dan

Director Paul Thomas Anderson returns for his first film since 2021’s Licorice Pizza with this dark comedy-action-thriller about a group of ex-revolutionaries who reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own. Here are details, a trailer and our plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: When an evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue one of their own's daughter. The film is written/directed/produced by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Licorice Pizza). The ensemble cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Alana Haim, Teyana Taylor, Benicio Del Toro and Wood Harris.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feOQFKv2Lw4
BUZZ: The reviews are in and ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is a certified hit! The film is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which says: “An epic screwball adventure teeming with awe-inspiring action set pieces, One Battle After Another is Paul Thomas Anderson's most entertaining film yet while also one of his most thematically rich.” Others say, “Behold a new American classic!” This “spellbinding, taut, engrossing and timely crime thriller” finds “Paul Thomas Anderson at his biggest and most entertaining!” It’s “a thrilling adventure,” that’s “consistently funny” and “an emotional, visceral triumph!” At nearly 3-hours, it’s both a marathon and a sprint. It’s also a “serious film of the year contender and one of the best studio movies in years!”
BONUS ARTICLE: One Battle Enters the Oscars Race! Note: This article makes its own prediction for the top 10 most likely Best Picture nominees and you know ALL of them on our Watch List! Link: https://www.goldderby.com/film/2025/one-battle-after-another-oscar-odds-anderson-dicaprio-penn/
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet inside the lobby area about 20 minutes before showtime. A longer movie, so we’ll plan to make this a movie-only event with a possible quick pre-show bite. Details will be confirmed and announced on the Wednesday before the event (when the theater announces them). As a reminder, advance ticket purchase not required for this theater. Also, be sure to mention you’re with the group for discounted admission.

- THE SMASHING MACHINE vs ELEANOR THE GREAT at the Gateway Film Center!Gateway Film Center, Columbus, OH
If the rumors are to be believed, we could be witnessing The Rock in an Oscar caliber film with THE SMASHING MACHINE! This biographical sports drama from A24 stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and follows a real-life MMA fighter and influential figure in the sport who struggled with drug addiction throughout his career. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: This biographical sports drama chronicles the life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr and his journey through mixed martial arts world during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The film highlights his achievements, struggles and addictions. It is written / directed / edited / co-produced Benny Safdie and stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten and Oleksandr Usyk.
TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJuS4baeaxU
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: Early buzz is strong with critics praising Dwayne Johnson's transformative and "raw, vulnerable" performance in this "gritty biopic." The film premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival wher it won the Silver Lion (Best Director) award for Benny Safdie!
SAFDIE v SAFDIE: The Safdie Brothers directed a pair of outstanding (and personal favorite) A24 films together: Good Time and Uncut Gems! This year, they’re both making solo directorial debuts in A24 films and in what will likely be one of the bigger narratives of the season! Benny is directing this film, THE SMASHING MACHINE, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. His brother Josh will release of his film, MARTY SUPREME, starring Timothee Chalamet, on Christmas Day! And you know we’ll be there for both!
Possible Alternate Choice: ELEANOR THE GREAT! While The Smashing Machine is our Featured Film, not everyone may be feeling a film about an MMA fighter. Not enough space on the calendar for both, so we’ll set this one up as an alternate choice. First time director Scarlett Johansson teams up with June Squibb in this drama that follows a 94-year-old Floridian woman who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 19-year-old student in New York City. The film is directed by Scarlett Johansson and stars June Squibb, Erin Kellyman, Jessica Hecht and Chiwetel Ejiofor. This will likely be a super limited release so it may be here and gone before we know it. But, if we have an opportunity to schedule both (even if it requires us to switch theaters) we will! Exact plan, showtime, and location will be confirmed and announced the week before the event. Here’s a trailer for ELEANOR THE GREAT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ6l2ue--KA
PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet inside the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime! Once showtime is announced, advance ticket purchase is advised. Once you have yours, please list your seat number in the comments below. Complete details will be confirmed and announced as the date gets closer.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
