Marcus Landslide/Feldspar Trails
Details
This hike is rated INTERMEDIATE. We will be going to the Marcus Landslide area. On the way out we’ll add another mile and do the seldom traveled Feldspar Trail, which is flat. The first 1.5 mile of the Marcus Landslide Trail is also relatively flat and there is a 1-mile loop at the landslide area which has a slight upgrade.
The hike is about 5.5 miles. This breathtaking hike is in the Tom’s Thumb area of Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve. You will be amazed at the spectacular desert views. Saguaros are abundant due to the higher elevation! This is a chance for you to see unusual desert plants and possibly some wildlife.
There is NO WATER at the trailhead. Bring a snack to eat along the way, as there are plenty of rocks to sit on and enjoy the view.
Bring at least a liter of water for this hike.
Please note that neither myself, nor any other trip leaders are professional tour guides, nor do we have any special training in first aid or rescue. You are entirely responsible for your own safety.
