Trail&Table #4 : Heat and flow

Details
This Sunday, during our bike ride, the heat won’t be avoided—it will carry us forward, slow us down, and shape the rhythm of our ride
Route:
– Start: Riverfront Park
– Ride out: Through trails into Riverside State Park (briefly)
– Ride back: Return flow
– End: Huntington Park at the falls for a seated, reflective close
No vendors this time—just sun, motion, and reflection.
We’ll move quietly through heat, sun, and shade—letting the ride set the rhythm, and ending in cool stillness by the falls.
At the close, we’ll offer a local cool-down: watermelon, stone fruit, or mint-soaked towels from a cooler. Sit by the falls. Just absorb.
The ride is modest—enough to shift your state, not push your limits. This is not a fitness ride. It’s a reflective loop, mostly flat and shaded in parts, with space to pause along the way.
You might carry this question with you as you ride:
_What is the role of discomfort in presence?
Bring:
– plenty of water
– sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sleeves)
– whatever helps you ride in the heat
– and, if you want, something small to share or enjoy: fruit, a towel, a line of text—or nothing at all.
Trail & Table is a local series exploring movement, ritual, and attention in and around Spokane. The loop is short. The invitation is to be with what the season gives
