Our events typically fill up at 24 people for guided hikes! You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events!
This guided hike has a nominal non-refundable $25 registration fee to secure your spot.
The Horse Pond Mountain hike is a 3-mile loop hike with 650’ of elevation up and down. It's a moderate hike that we'll take at a leisurely pace.
We will arrive at the peak just before sunset, and once we've taken our pics and had our fill of the beautiful sunset, we'll continue our hike by the light of our headlamps. It's a rare opportunity for a night hike in the woods.
Horse Pond Mountain is part of Long Pond Ironworks State Park, one of the lesser-known NJ state parks, which is why its interesting features and incredible views go under the radar.
From the parking area, we'll head up to the ridge and connect to the Highlands Trail. Amazing views of the Monksville Reservoir from above and the mountains to the east can be seen near the top of Horse Pond Mountain on the ridge. After the sunset, we'll continue our loop, where we'll make several water crossings, pass huge glacial erratic boulders, and make our way back around to where we started.
