Our events typically fill up at 24 people for courses! You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events!
Want to know you're prepared to spend the night on a hike gone wrong without lugging around a tent everywhere you go? Thinking about a thru-hike or backpacking trip and you want to stay lightweight? A heavy tent that you'll never carry won’t help, but a lightweight tarp always at the ready, and knowing how to use it, will!
This class focuses on becoming an expert with the misunderstood tarp. A tarp, beyond being extremely lightweight and packable, gives us tremendous flexibility in the types of shelters we can build. We’ll go over our recommended configurations to fit the needs of any situation.
Do you want to let in the cool breeze? Do you want to trap in as much heat as possible to stay warm? Maybe you need adequate space to take care of yourself and an injured hiker who needs help. Everyone will walk away from this class confident and versatile in shelter building, ready for their next adventure or unforeseen emergency.
Prerequisite: Knots 1 course (usually given the morning of the same day)
Minimum Age: 8 years old - the minor(s) and a parent/guardian must all be paid registered participants.
