We’re Taking It Up a Notch!
After building confidence on single overnights, the Women’s Chapter is now offering a two-night backpacking adventure. This is more than an extra night in the woods. It’s a step into deeper endurance, greater self-trust, and shared strength.
Join us for a fully immersive experience in the heart of northeastern Pennsylvania’s Pocono Plateau. Spanning more than 49,000 acres, Pinchot State Forest offers a rugged and ecologically rich landscape of hardwood ridges, hemlock-lined ravines, glacial wetlands, and pristine headwater streams. Our route along the Pinchot Trail winds through a diverse mosaic of Appalachian ecosystems shaped by elevation, soil, and water.
This is a working forest, thoughtfully managed for sustainable forestry, wildlife habitat, and watershed protection. A two-night trip here offers true immersion: stream crossings, remote stretches of trail, primitive campsites beneath towering trees, and dark skies filled with stars. Evenings bring the sound of wind through hemlock boughs. Mornings bring mist rising off cold headwater streams.
This itinerary is intentionally designed to build steadily—giving space to settle in, grow stronger, and lean into the experience within a supported, women-only community.
Day 1 - 2 miles, 200' up & down
Day 2 - 7 miles, 800' up & down
Day 3 - 2.5 miles, 300' up & down
This isn’t just about distance. It’s about:
• Expanding comfort zones
• Practicing essential backcountry skills like water filtration and fire building skills
• Successfully hanging food and “smellables” out of reach of critters
• Carrying your own gear with confidence
• Waking up twice in the woods knowing you belong there
Expect supportive leadership, shared learning, campfire laughter, and the kind of growth that only happens when you commit to something just beyond “easy.”
