JOIN 72-MILE HIKERS IN OCALA N. F. FOR THE LAST THIRTEEN

Trail homies will be hiking the entire Ocala National Forest beginning Monday 11/09 to Saturday the 14th. Join us for the last two days, knowing that it also includes a visit to Alexander Springs Recreation Area. This short adventure is for those who are interested in hiking just a portion of the Florida Trail through the southern end of the Ocala National Forest. Here's what you'll experience:

1. Be shuttled from Clearwater Lake R. A. at
   11 AM to the rendezvous point on the Florida Trail.
2. Hike three and a half miles to visit Alexander Springs until its closing at 6 PM.
3. Camp in an established site in the woods. Fix dinner. Enjoy a fire. Sleep.
4. Fix breakfast. Hike the last ten miles.
5. Clean up at Clearwater Lake Recreation Area (We're all showering after six days!).
6. Celebrate at Palermo's Pizza two miles away.

If this is up your alley, here's what you'll do now:

1. Click the RSVP and pay the $5.
2. Call the shuttle number (352-434-5153) and give Karen your name and reservation for the shuttle. The shuttle will take less than 20 minutes to deliver you. Karen will have your payment details. You’ll pay her $5.
3. Prepare your backpack with one dinner and one breakfast and everything you'll need for camping.

Here's what you can expect:

1. Arrive at Clearwater Lake Recreation Area Ranger Station at 10:45 AM and pay $8 to park your car overnight. The shuttle will meet you at the Florida Trail Parking Lot which is on the right before you pull up to the Ranger Station.
2. You'll pay $8 for Alexander Admission and whatever else you want while visiting the spring area.
3. You'll pay for your meal at Palermo's.
4. The last thing you'll do is send me a text at 407-538-0523 and let me know you have arranged to shuttle with Karen AND so that we are connected for the adventure.
5. If you're not able to get away from work that early, ask Karen if she can shuttle you later directly to Alexander Springs Recreation Area after 6 PM.
