Dakota Ridge and Red Rocks Trail Loop
Details
Dakota Ridge and Red Rocks Trail Loop - is one of the nearby trail that I haven't hiked yet. It's by Red rocks Park so the scenery will be different.
This loop offers a scenic journey through the diverse landscapes of Jefferson County Open Space, starting from the historic Matthews/Winters area. You will head up to the Dakota Ridge, where you can hike along a narrow "knife-edge" with views of the Red Rocks Amphitheater to the west. Look for Jurassic-age fossils and dinosaur footprints etched directly into the rock along the ridge. Red Rocks Trail is a smoother dirt path.
