Beginner Backpacking Class at Nesika Lodge, Nesika Fund Raiser and Raffle

Gate on Larch Mountain Road at 10 mile marker will be open at 9:00 Friday and Saturday morning, 11:00 Saturday, 5:30 Saturday afternoon and Sunday at 11:00. This is for all you who would rather drive. We will have day hikes starting at noon on Friday from Lodge through Multnomah Basin. Beginner backpacking class with speakers. Six Moon Design has agreed to come and show off his new backpacks and tents along with waterproof pods and pack liners, Adam Coberly will be our presenter on Saturday afternoon. SARS may also talk about how to stay safe even if lost. He has a slide SHOW of JMT. He states he is more a climber than a backpacker. he states his pack weight is heavy. He is also an organizer of Oregon Hikers and Climbers. I think it is great to compare heavy pack with light pack and hiking styles; Mountain climbing with day hiking and Backpacking. He states that his gear may be a bit humorous compared to light weight backpacking. Lisa Holmes will comehas dropped off her books which will be on sale for $5 off. She writes books to promote backpacking and hiking. and promote her backpack cooking and trail guides, Dolores will give a demonstration and assist participants to fix broken zippers. We will do pack breakdowns and discuss food dehydrating and cooking on trail. We will discuss how to lessen your weight on the trail to make your hike more enjoyable. The speakers will start promptly at 10:00 with a social hour 9:00 to 10:00 AM. on Saturday. Cost is $60 Flat fee. This is a Nesika fund raiser.
