Nesika Ramble to test winter gear: Nov 7-9, or hike in with a friend for the day

Meet at Larch Mountain Gate at 9:00 sharp Friday or Saturday morning. Goal is to test winter gear at our beautiful Nesika Lodge. Bring 4 Season tent or double wall tent. waffle pad and blow up pad, sleeping bag liner and warm sleeping bag 20 Degree. Hiking clothes in layers. Night clothes suggestion: wool long Johns, down pants and coat, hat and gloves to sleep in.
Saturday after we hike some of the newly reopened trails in the area Dolores Niebergall Trails Club member and Certified Leave No Trace Instructor will give an interactive one hour presentation on Leave No Trace for the Back Country from 1:30-2:30 pm, followed by a very informative talk on backpacking for beginners by our legendary Long Distance Trail hiker Linda Conrad 2:30-3:30 pm.
We can use wood stove in lodge for cooking. bring your own food . If you have questions please call Linda Conrad at 360-907-5096. Events: backpack in from Devils Rest, to lodge. Saturday: day hike of Franklin Ridge, looping around to Cougar Rock and back to Lodge. Sunday packing back to cars at brown gate. Cost $20 per night for members and $30 per night non members .
Not able to stay the night? Hike in for a day or part of a day. Day use fee a bargain!! Free for Trails Club of Oregon Members and $4 for guests.
Please remember to bring a lunch, layers, proper footwear, a headlamp and a hiking companion if you plan to hike out after the Saturday presentations.
