Just a few LGBTQ friends getting together for a soak in the pool overlooking the city.

The city’s chaos fades into a distant, gentle hum. Up here, the only agenda is the slow arc of the sun and the occasional ripple of water against the edge. Bangkok stretches out before you—a sprawling tapestry of glittering skyscrapers, tangled streets, and the serpentine curve of the Chao Phraya River.

The infinity pool merges with the horizon, blurring the line between water and sky. You’re not just looking at the view; you’re floating within it. The heat of the day is soothed by a cool breeze and the condensation on a glass of something fresh. This is it. This is the moment you travel for: the profound peace of being suspended in paradise, high above the world, with the entire City of Angels at your feet. No tours, no timetables, just timeless tranquility.

The festival spotlights the artistry of the art medium, first opening with a two-week gallery exhibition on Oct. 14 at the 5th floor hall of the BACC, before finishing with a weekend of convention on Oct. 25 to 26.

With this year’s theme, “Storytelling in Comics,” the festival explores how comics blend narrative with visuals to tell stories with or without words, highlights both international and the growing local comic scene, and showcases what makes comics art so special.

Beyond the exhibition, the BKK Comics Art Festival will be filling both convention days with panels, workshops, and other fun activities. This year’s special guests include mangakas Eldo Yoshimizu (Japan) and Rimui Yumin (Taiwan), as well as numerous artists from around the world. The Embassy of Belgium is once again a partner of the festival, with a special presentation of Franco-Belgian comics and an exhibition from Loo Hui Phang scheduled at the event.

This year comes as a milestone year for bkk UNZINE, which has just debuted its very first print comic magazine with UNZINE Comics.

Touch can be silly, empowering, therapeutic, and so much more.
Do we have enough platonic touch in our lives? How do we better advocate for ourselves? How can we be more considerate?

After some discussions sparked by prompts, we will have a short practical section and then use breakout groups to cover a variety of topics.

Maybe you have a topic you'd love to hear others' thoughts on. Or design new touch-based games. Or maybe one of the earlier prompts will spark a desire for a bigger discussion.

Schedule (provisional):
12 noon - Gathering and introductions. Eat/drink.
1pm - Icebreakers and discussion points.
2pm - Short practical section - self-checks and 4-element groups.
2:30pm - Forming breakout groups for discussion.
4pm - start moving towards a unified debrief/discussion.
5pm - official end of event

Dress code:
Casual. Wear anything you feel comfortable and confident in.
