Right On, Ride On!

The local bus system of suburban Montgomery County, MD, is celebrating its golden anniversary in 2025. It’s the oldest such system in the D.C. area.

The system made some changes in conjunction with this summer's MetroBus overhaul—the biggest of which is that Ride On is now free!

We’ll celebrate by taking the Ride On 12, which serves the same Silver Spring-Takoma Park area the original Ride On’s plied back in 1975.

We'll start at Union Station, take the Red line to Silver Spring station, then the number 12 to the Takoma Station, and back again to Union Station for lunch in the lower level food court. Every participant get a commemorative badge.
