The King of Transit: New York City
Details
Gotham native Alan Weinstein will take us on a tour of the largest, most complex transit system in the country, the public transportation of New York City. The Big Apple features the most miles of subway track, the highest passenger count, and many other superlatives. Alan grew up riding the system and has been acquainted with it for decades, so will have his own impressions and anecdotes to add to all the facts and figures.
William Rice will provide a brief addendum to Alan's presentation by focusing in one line of the NYC system: the elevated tracks in Brooklyn that currently carry the J and Z subway lines but which predate the unified MTA.
Also learn about our next transit adventure: riding the soon-to-be-phased-out DC Streetcar, and comparing its running time to the Metrobus that shares its route in Northeast Washington.
