Mapping Transit

In conjunction with the GIS in Transit conference (http://2015gisintransitconference.sched.org/), we're inviting conference-goers and local transit nerds to a show & tell of cool mapping projects in the world of transportation. You do not have to be registered for the conference in order to attend, but please do RSVP via this site.

Doors open at 1776 (http://www.1776.vc/) at 6:00 with food and drinks. We will have a volunteer in the lobby to let people in at least until 7:00 and hopefully up to 7:30. Afterwards, the security guard is not allowed to let latecomers in the building. The presentations start at 6:30. Our speakers are:

• Ian Rees (https://twitter.com/woolie) and Drew Dara-Abrams (https://twitter.com/drewdaraabrams) will tell us about Mapzen (https://mapzen.com/)'s Transitland (https://transit.land/) project.

• Drew Dara-Abrams will show us Mapzen's Valhalla (https://mapzen.com/projects/valhalla/) open-source routing service.

• Kevin Webb (https://twitter.com/kvnweb) will discuss Conveyal's work mapping transport access.

• Melinda Morang (http://transit.melindamorang.com/) will show how Esri (http://www.esri.com/)'s ArcMap is used to analyze GTFS data.

• Sara Thurman (https://twitter.com/thurmSR) will debut TransitTally, a visualization of transit options based on your location.

• Jaime McKay (https://twitter.com/jaimemckay1) and Marcy Jaffe (http://mjcaction.com/) will discuss their efforts to get smaller agencies to provide robust GTFS data for developers.

• Michael Schade (https://twitter.com/mvs202) will demo TransitScreen's project to map the world's GTFS data.
