Mongolia & Beyond: Travel Stories from 110 Countries w/Carol—Wed Feb 25 @ 6:30pm
Details
Carol is a Nebraska native and lifelong adventurer whose passport tells an incredible story: 110 countries and counting! She taught English in a German public school in the 1970s in northern Germany, volunteered extensively in Tanzania, and has had some incredible experiences across endless other countries. When she's back in Omaha, she stays deeply connected to global community through the German American Society, Omaha Sister Cities program, and Omaha's international student exchange program. She also volunteers with Mosaic International supporting people with disabilities in Tanzania—bringing a thoughtful, people-first lens to the way she travels.
Despite her busy calendar, the Travel & Culture Group was able to snag her up, and she'll be our February speaker! Carol will take us along her journey across Mongolia—from the museums, temples, and markets of Ulaanbaatar to the wide-open landscapes beyond the city, including the vibrant Festival of Children, and so much more. And because Carol has explored the world far beyond one destination, she’ll also weave in stories and lessons from a few of her other favorite places—making this an evening about how an experienced traveler sees the world, not just one country.
Schedule:
6:30 PM: Social time – Grab a drink, mingle, and meet fellow travelers
7 PM: Carol's presentation - focusing on Mongolia and other destinations
8 PM-ish: Event finishes
This event is at the German American Society, which is opening just for our Travel & Culture Group. We’ll have plenty of parking, a variety of drinks for purchase (including imported German beer, and a variety of spirits, and refreshing non-alcoholic options). Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
