Join us as we cruise the Rhine River aboard the MS Amadeus Imperial to take in the great Christmas markets of Switzerland, France, and Germany. Enjoy this magical time of year as Europe’s countries hold steadfastly onto Old World holiday tradition and transform into fairy-tale Christmas settings. The sights and sensations of the holiday season are everywhere: locals and guests savor the tastes of chocolate covered Lebkuchen (gingerbread), sizzling grilled sausages and spiced hot “Gluehwein” (mulled wine). People also delight in the festively decorated markets and shopping for ornaments, crafts, candles, nutcrackers, winter hats, roasted nuts and other traditional items.

Day 1, November 29 2023: Depart US
Take overnight Flight to Zurich, Switzerland

Day 2, November 30: Arrive
We’ll arrive mid-morning in Zurich and meet our tour director, Betty, for the week at the airport. From there we’ll take a shuttle to our hotel in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Day 3, December 1: Lucerne – Strasbourg – Board the Amadeus Imperial
In the morning we’ll meet our guide for a Lucerne Walking Tour. You’ll learn the history of this amazing city and it’s beautiful lake. In the afternoon we’ll travel to Strasbourg, France via motorcoach and Board the MS Imperial for our 6 Night Rhine River Cruise. After settling in we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner onboard

Day 4, December 2: Strasbourg
In the morning we’ll take a guided Strasbourg city tour of this medieval, followed by an extended visit to the Strasbourg Christmas Market. That afternoon Leisure time in Strasbourg. Or take the optional tour to Alsace & Obernai. The ship will be docked in Strasbourg into late evening.

Day 5, December 3: Speyer – Mannheim
After breakfast we take a Speyer Walking Tour followed by the Speyer Christmas Market. In the afternoon we’ll cruise to Mannheim for time at Leisure. Or you can take the Heidelberg Optional Excursion.

Day 6, December 4: Rüdesheim – Rhine River Gorge – Koblenz
In the morning we arrive in Rüdesheim and walk into town on own to explore. We’ll have lunch onboard as we sail through the Rhine River Gorge, a UNESCO Heritage Site. In the afternoon we arrive in Koblenz and take a guided walking tour followed by free time at the Christmas Market.

Day 7, December 5: Cochem
In the morning we’ll cruise up the Moselle River to see miles of Chardonnay grapes, castles, and more. In the afternoon we arrive in Cochem and take a guided walking tour and visit Reichsburg Castle. Then we’ll enjoy a Wine Tasting & followed by the Cochem Christmas Market.

Day 8, December 6: Cologne
In the morning we arrive in Cologne and take a Walking Tour and visit the Christmas Market. Afternoon is at your leisure in Cologne. In the evening we’ll enjoy a Gala Farewell Dinner Onboard. The Ship is docked overnight in Cologne.

Day 9, December 7: Cologne – Frankfurt Airport – Flight Home
Morning transfer to the Frankfurt Airport for your flight home
