# **Summary**

Come join me at Martha's Kitchen, a non-profit that collects food and feeds our communities on a daily basis. I have volunteered at the Sanctuary in San Francisco in the past for many years. The impact of earning the trust with those that you are trying to help is not only gratifying but more importantly eye opening. Other people's life stories and challenges helps put things into perspective.

STEP 1:

STEP 2:
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Martha's Kitchen throughout the next year. The link below will allow you to schedule multiple volunteer opportunities at a time. **Each person will need to [create an account and add themselves to the Travel, Hike, and Eat private shift(s)](https://marthaskitchen.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=939249).**
STEP 3:
I'll move you to attending after the completed process is confirmed and I am notified by the kitchen.

**Background**
On a monthly basis Martha’s Kitchen provides 100,000 meals and distributes 175,000 pounds of groceries each month.

Their mission statement is that they believe:

"...Food is a basic human right not a luxury. It is vital that these communities have access to well balanced meals, which include proper proteins, vegetables, and carbohydrates.

While San Jose has been our home for over 40 years, we feel called to provide food security to as many communities as we possibly can. At Martha’s Kitchen we believe that food is a basic human right not a luxury. "

**Day-of instructions**

* Wear closed-toed shoes and a hat.
* If you can, please park on the street due to limited spaces in our shared parking lot.
* Enter through the office doors past the dark blue cold box on the side of Martha's Kitchen. You will be greeted by staff and walked through the check-in process.
* We will take some time afterwards to "break bread" at a local eatery to give "thanks".

**Other**
The organizers of this meet-up are unpaid volunteers. All participants agree to assume 100% responsibility for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and recognize that possible hazards exist while participating in any activities. Members agree to participate solely at their own risk. If you RSVP “Yes” and/or attend any of our events, it shall be assumed that you understand and agree to this policy.
