Joshua Tree Milky Way Arch Madness (2 nights)

Join me in Joshua Tree for two nights under the stars!

Please read details carefully. Hiking required. Weather will be hot. I’ll be staying at motel 6 in twenty nine palms. Feel free to stay where ever or camp.

Shooting locations will be provided closer to the date to attendees. They are both small arches outside of the park about 40 minutes east of motel 6. One is about a 2 mile hike round trip and the other is 3.75 miles roundtrip. Terrain is fairly flat over rocks and through sandy wash. Number of attendees is limited due to space limitations around the arches. I have a LED panel to light paint. We’ll do the longer hike on Friday.

Sunset is at 8:00pm and Milky Way core rises at 9:40pm. We’ll start hiking an hour or so before sunset so we can easily find the arches and get set up before it gets dark. We’ll track our hike using all trails to follow our tracks back to our cars after the shoot in the dark, or if we want to just do blue hour at the arches and Milky Way closer to the cars that’s fine with me too.

Chance of seeing scorpions is high. Please be on alert and bring a blacklight if you have one. I don’t recommend leaving backpacks and other items on the ground. Other items to bring include a tripod, wide angle low light lens (f/2.8), chair, headlamp, snacks, water.

Event may be cancelled last minute if weather is not permitting or any other reason.
