Full Moon Rising Above Griffith Observatory
Details
Photograph the next super moon rising above Griffith Observatory!
Cost is $50 and is limited to 4 participants due to physical space limitations.
In this teaching workshop you will learn how to prepare for and capture a beautiful rising full moon. There will also be some guidance on how to best process your images in both Lightroom and Photoshop. As a bonus: for those who want to learn how to create a time lapse, I will demonstrate that as well.
This month there will be two days ideal for capturing the full moon - Monday, 9/16 (the day before the full moon) and Tuesday 9/17 the day of the actual full moon. One day is not better than the other - both days have it's pros and cons, so choose the day that best fits your schedule.
On Monday the moon rises at 6:25pm. On Tuesday it rises at 6:56pm. However, from our location the moon will not be visible until 30-40 minutes later. The sun sets at 6:56/6:57pm respectively.
This event listing is for the Tuesday date.
What to bring:
Bring your DSLR or mirrorless camera and your longest lens. Recommendation is a lens between 100 and 400mm and a tripod. If you are strictly a phone shooter, you may get bored, but are welcome to join. You will still learn something that will make you a better photographer. No specific experience is required to achieve full moon happiness!
Where to meet and park:
You can park along the lower end of Western Canyon Road, where we will be shooting from. (I will text our exact GPS locations to paid participants.) However, it can be full sometimes and parking, which is enforced every day until 10pm, costs $10/hour or more. I will be parking for free in a nearby neighborhood and taking a quick 10/15 minute uphill hike to our shooting location. I will share that location with all registered and paid signups. The 6pm meeting time is for those who choose to meet where I will be parking. For those wanting to park on Western Canyon Road, you have until 6:15pm or so.
How to register and pay
Your RSVP to this event shows your interest, but does not hold your space. The only way to secure your spot in this workshop is full payment of the workshop fee. Each workshop is limited to 4 participants plus myself as the ideal shooting locations along the road are limited and narrow.
Cost: $50.00 - Please send your payment via Paypal or Zelle. My Zelle account is: christine@cksworld.com.
