Venice Canals at Sunset and Night
Details
Photograph the Venice Canals at sunset and after dark!
Here the sky, water, bridges, boats, tall palm trees, reflections and unique houses and gardens all come together to create magic. Dusk and just after dark are the best times to capture it!
This will be a hands-on learning experience. I will primarily talk about how to look at and evaluate light, give you compositional ideas and aim to spark and ignite your creativity. This event is for you if you want to learn how to take better sunset and night time images.
We will start 30 minutes before sunset and walk through the canals with an eye towards creating a fusion of color, light and the ephemeral in your images. As the natural light fades and residents turn on their twinkling lights, we will pick a few spots for night time images. The photo shown was taken during a recent daytime visit and I can't wait to see it at dusk and at night.
What to bring:
Your DSLR or mirrorless camera and a zoom lens for the most flexibility. A tripod is highly recommended for the best quality night images. If you are strictly a phone shooter, you will still enjoy this event and learn something that will make you a better photographer.
Where and when to meet plus parking options:
S. Venice Blvd at the entrance to the Grand Canal walking path. Arrive at 6:15pm, say hello to fellow photographers and we'll start walking at 6:25pm or so. There are paid parking lots along S Venice or you can look for free street parking.
How to register and pay
RSVP to this event and send your payment via Paypal or Zelle (415-632-7383). If you are running late and want to catch up, call me. I will not be checking my phone for texts.
