Bhutan (འབྲུག་ཡུལ), officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in South Asia located at the eastern end of the Himalayas. Trip Dates : 9th to 16th March 2017

Itinerary:
Day 1: 9th March 2017
- Reach Bagdogra by air/ train to NJP in West Bengal. Take a taxi/ shared jeep to the border town of Phuentsholing.
- Get immigration and other formalities done here. Overnight halt at Phuentsholing.
Day 2: 10th March 2017
- Drive to Thimphu (About 6hours)
- Take the coaster bus to reach the Capital city
- Later in the evening visit City Centre and Thimpu Market for shopping.
- Dance till you drop in a local Pub.
Day 3: 11th March 2017
- Thimphu Sightseeing
- Visit the National Memorial Chorten which is built in honor of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Thimphu Dzong, the largest Dzong in Bhutan, is also the seat of the office of the King of Bhutan. Thereafter, we will drive up to Kuenselphodrang Nature Park where the 169 feet bronze statue of Buddha Dordenma, Vajra Throne Buddha is located. It one of the largest statue of Buddha in the world.
- Visit the Takin Zoo(Takin is Bhutan's National Animal) Day 4: 12th March 2017
- Punakha
- Drive to Punakha and stop at Dochula Pass, regard the grand 108 stupas (sacred structures) and appreciate the stunning view of the Himalaya’s if it is a clear day.
- Hike around 1.5 hours to Chimmi Lhakang, which is a temple dedicated to the divine Madman and people come here to pray for children. Continue to Punakha Dzong, a large and spectacular Bhutanese architecture, located at the confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu Rivers. It was the religious and administrative centre of Bhutan until 1950 when the capital moved to Thimphu. After that we visit the nearby Suspension Bridge, which is the longest bridge of Bhutan.
- Overnight stay at Punakha.
Day 5: 13th March 2017
- Punakha to Paro
- Drive back to Paro. It takes about 3 hours by road. Visit the Paro Dzong, which is said to be the finest example of Bhutanese architecture. Now it is the local administrative centre and the school for monks. Later we visit the Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower, now housing the National Museum with more than 3000 exhibits. Some of them may date back to the 8th century. We will end our day shopping at local market. Date 6: 14th March 2017
- Tiger’s nest monastery trek
- Tiger’s nest monastery: This is a strenuous day as we will hike up to the holiest Buddhist monastery in Bhutan, Taktsang (Tiger's Nest). It is located in a cliff about 900 meters (3000 feet) above the Paro Valley. After about 3 hours hiking, we arrive at this spectacular monastery, where you will appreciate the awesome architecture and take in the beauty of the Paro Valley.
Day 7: 15th March 2017
- Departure from Paro. 6hours Drive)
- Reach Jaigaon, the border town and rest for the day. Day 8 : 16th March 2017
- Drive back to Bagdogra Airport.
- Trip ends with happy memories.
Important Note:
- Indian tourist need a passport or election ID card to visit Bhutan. - Indian Simcards do not work in Bhutan but you can buy a local sim for 210 Rs. Bhutanese currency is equivalent to Indian and both currencies are acceptable. However change your Rupees to Ngultrum for a true foreign-land experience. Almost everyone understands Hindi/ English. All Indian TV channels are available and Bhutanese women love Hindi movies/serials !!
