Tree of the Year Kickoff Walk at Pease Park
Details
Join us for a fun and educational morning at our Tree of the Year Kickoff Walk!
We’ll gather at the former Pease Elementary School at 9AM before setting out on a guided walk to visit three past winners of Austin’s Tree of the Year.
The Tree of the Year program, run by TreeFolks, celebrates the most remarkable trees in our community - whether for their size, history, ecological importance, or the stories they hold. With the 2026 nomination period opening at the end of April, this walk is a great chance to learn what makes a winning tree and get inspired to nominate one of your own.
Along the way, we’ll share insights about Austin’s urban forest, what makes these trees special, and how you can get involved in protecting and celebrating them. Our walk will end at Pease Park.
After the walk, you’re invited to stick around and enjoy a relaxed Sunday in the park, grab a bite from the food trucks, bring a blanket, and spread out for a casual picnic under the trees.
Parking Info:
