TREIA Main Meeting: Zoning, and Why You Should be Doing New Construction

Details
## Upcoming Speaker Feature: Devin Solow & Ian Lipman of BETTER
## We're excited to feature Devin Solow and Ian Lipman, the CEO and COO of BETTER, a real estate investment, construction, and brokerage company based in the Triangle. Devin and Ian bring a fresh, integrated approach to residential development—one that simplifies the process and creates opportunities for everyday investors to participate in building smarter, more attainable housing.
## During the presentation, they'll break down what real estate development really looks like and how it’s becoming more approachable thanks to recent zoning changes and shifts in the housing market. They'll explore how their team manages everything in-house—from acquisitions and design to construction and resale—and why this model works for both investors and communities.
## Devin Solow launched BETTER in 2018, building on a background in strategic finance and a hands-on entry into real estate with a single renovation project. Since then, he's led over $10 million in construction and developed a portfolio of 40+ rental doors. Devin’s experience spans finance, design, and local market insight, all focused on infill development and walkable neighborhood creation across North Carolina.
## Ian Lipman, BETTER’s COO, began as a client and investor before joining the team full-time. With a master’s degree in Financial Engineering and a track record of value-add renovations and small-scale development, Ian brings an analytical and operational lens to the company’s growth. He’s played a key role in scaling BETTER’s systems and expanding its reach in the Triangle real estate market.
## Together, Devin and Ian will share how to move beyond the stress and limitations of fix-and-flips and start thinking like a developer—even without a construction background. This session is ideal for investors, agents, and anyone curious about what’s possible when you shift your mindset from “What can I buy?” to “What can I build?”
## Don't miss this if you are looking for better and bigger returns on your investment
