🥾 Pietersheim Purple Trail — Hoge Kempen National Park

Ready to swap the city for pine forests, peaceful ponds, and wide-open heathland? This time we’re heading to Pietersheim in Hoge Kempen National Park for a beautiful loop through the Ziepbeek Valley.The Purple Trail winds through quiet woodland and wet heath, past ponds including Aspermansvijver and Droogmeervijver, with lovely viewpoints across the valley. It is one of the National Park’s official Top Trails, recognised for its landscape variety, natural beauty, waymarking, and infrastructure.
Whether you prefer to soak in the scenery in peaceful silence, or you’re the type who can’t help striking up a conversation with everyone on the trail — there’s a place for you here!

We gather on Sunday August 2nd at 10:45 at the meeting location described below. We’ll wait 15 minutes and set off at 11:00 sharp.Once we start, we’ll share our live location in the WhatsApp group for this hike so anyone running late can catch up.

Appel MapsThe route is approximately 11.3 km long, with around 30 m of elevation gain, and is rated moderate. Komoot estimates just under three hours of walking. At a group pace, including breaks and time to enjoy the views, expect the outing to take approximately 3½–4 hours.
