Introduction
Ready to step into another world? This spring we're heading to the wild heart of the High Fens — a landscape of heathlands, moss-draped forests, and babbling streams that feels more like Scandinavian tundra than Belgium. The Eschbach and Steinbach valleys are at their most magical in spring, with the forests coming alive and wildflowers starting to push through. Come trade the city buzz for the sound of rushing water and birdsong.
Whether you prefer to soak in the scenery in peaceful silence, or you're the type who can't help striking up a conversation with everyone on the trail — there's a place for you here!

🎒 What to Bring

  • Sturdy hiking shoes 🥾 with good grip — this trail is full of tree roots, uneven terrain, stream crossings, and potentially muddy sections. Light sneakers absolutely won't cut it here.
  • A waterproof poncho in case of rain, an umbrella will not work well on narrow forest paths! If you carry a backpack you might need a rain cover for it too.
  • Water and lunch or snacks to keep your energy up on the trail.
  • Optional: trekking poles — they can help on the rooty, uneven sections.

👉 Important

  • The hike will go ahead rain or shine — a little drizzle is part of the adventure!
  • In case of a code orange or red weather warning the hike will be canceled even with short notice.
  • This is a moderate trail that requires sure-footedness — please assess your fitness level accordingly.
