***** LOCATION CHANGE *****
This hike was formerly in Nerang National Park; however, after walking that track ourselves, we decided it was quite an unimpressive walk — too much effort with no reward of a viewpoint or lookout, and too close to unsightly electrical towers.
Our new location is the Purling Brook Falls Circuit in Springbrook National Park!
Purling Brook Falls Circuit is a 4-km moderately challenging out-and-back trail featuring viewpoints, waterfalls, lakes, suspension bridges, swimming holes, and wildlife — you name it, it's here! Option to add an extra 2 km to reach the lower Warringa Pool (for a total of 6.1 km).
After a stunning walk through Gondwana and eucalypt forests, we’ll find the sheer beauty that is Purling Brook Falls, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Gold Coast hinterland. We'll lead you down into the gorge and bring you to two lookouts with epic vistas of the falls. Be sure to bring some lunch with you — we'll have a picnic with the water crashing behind us!
Warringa Pool is a tranquil swimming spot hidden far down in a valley covered with jungle. Further up the falls, there is a plunge pool that empties into a larger, deeper pool with a diameter of about 10m and a depth enough for a decent swim. Together with Twin Falls Circuit, this is truly one of the must-do tracks in Springbrook National Park.
This is a popular area for hiking and walking, so we'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
The track begins at Gwongorella picnic area, which has parking, information signs, toilets, sheltered picnic tables, and BBQs. The path is shared; be cautious on the tracks and keep left to allow others to pass safely.

For a selection of TrekWild's hiking events, trekking poles are strongly recommended, regardless of track difficulty, grade or your experience level. As with all natural areas, the grounds, track, and surrounding event site may contain minor hazards, like uneven ground, loose stone, sand, slippery areas, exposed tree roots, low hanging tree branches, etc. This can create risk of slipping, falls or other injuries. Be careful with your footing. Please exercise caution at all times on the trails. Before we commence with the outing, we will brief all participants on the area and what to be aware of. TrekWild is not responsible for items lost, stolen or damaged during the event. TrekWild reserves the right to disallow anyone from participating in this event at any time.
