Hello fellow rationalists! We’d like to announce our annual meeting, candidates for election and invite you to pay dues to support the organization.
Our annual meeting will be held at the Round Table Pizza on Leslie in Richland at 6pm on February 15. Feel free to show up earlier, order some pizza and a salad and have a beverage and some conversation with other members. We will attempt to provide a hybrid (Zoom) option for those who would like to participate but are unable to attend in person. Zoom should be https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87000392355?pwd=mSFx3XhKyESUGdmfsybN9lbuagCoJv.1
The formal business of the meeting will be the election of officers. Per our Bylaws,
“Elections for the positions of President and Treasurer shall be held in even-numbered years. Elections for the positions of Vice President, Secretary, and At-Large Director shall be held in odd-numbered years. A call for nominations shall be issued no later than the first Sunday of January. The nominations shall be posted on the organizational website and wherever else the Board deems appropriate no later than the third Sunday of January. Elections shall be by the date of or during the annual meeting, to be held no later than the third Sunday of February.”
These elections being in an even numbered year, the President (incumbent: Carl Baker) and Treasurer (incumbent: Rik Smith) are both up for election. We have earlier posted a call for nominees, and received none from the body. The incumbents have indicated a willingness to continue in their roles, so they stand as nominees. Per the bylaws, if you want to run for office (or vote), you need to be current on dues. Dues can be paid here: https://tri-city-freethinkers.square.site/. The full package of benefits for dues-paying members is:
You can vote
You can be on the board
You get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you’re supporting the good work we’re doing
If you are uncertain about your current dues status, please email Carl Baker (hodor@warmrock.net).
There will be time at the meeting for general discussion of activities and topics of interest to our members, including ideas for new activities in 2026.
