In August it's all about the SHADE and Sparkleberry's incredible canopy has it! Kayak this flooded forest with beautiful moss-draped Cypress trees and 150 bird species including Ibis, Cormorants, Barred Owls, Great Blue Herons. We'll search for the elusive Limpkin in an other-worldly wooded maze. If you haven't been to Sparkleberry, it's a must see for outdoor enthusiasts and if you've been before you already know why its a spectacular place to revisit.
Please arrive 15 minutes early if renting kayaks. If bringing your own kayak/gear, arrive early enough to unload and ready to launch by 8:30 am. We'll take a land/lunch break water levels permitting. Bring water, snack, hat, shoes that can get wet.
$35/person to rent kayak/gear- includes kayak, paddle, PFD, whistle and we bring to landing. Call 843-697-2812 by 8/13/25 for rental. Rentals are paid in advance and provided by Blueway Adventures.
$15 if bringing your own kayak/gear (BYOE). Whistle and PFD required by SCDNR. You can bring cash day of paddle or call 843-697-2812 to prepay with credit card.

Kayaks 12' and longer are highly recommended. No inflatables permitted.
There are no restrooms or facilities at this landing.
Water, snack, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, shoes that can get wet (no flip flops due to slip hazard).
Mobile phone coverage is spotty at best. Check directions and map before getting on the road.
