Fundamentals of Photography #101 (at MPW)

This is a six-week, 4 hours per night or 4-hour daytime class, (seven-session class). It is designed for the beginning photographer who has recently purchased a digital SLR camera, a mirrorless camera, or even for people looking for a refresher on technique. This class covers: exposure, shutter speeds, ISO selection, f/stops and how to read a histogram. Learn composition techniques such as: The Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, S Curves, C curves and the Light Isolate Theory. In addition to learning about the use of filters, extension tubes, and tele-convertors; students will also receive instruction on flash photography, portraiture, close-ups (Macro Photography), and how to overcome full automation in today’s cameras.
Learn about how to photograph wildlife, nature and sports. We may view a couple of photographs of the portrayal of the artistic nude model as fine art.

Any digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless camera that can be adjusted for manual operation was well as automatic exposure is welcome provided it is not an an automatic exposure only style camera. No point and shoot or cell phone cameras permitted. This class is about 30-hours in total. There is also an all-day Saturday or sometimes a Sunday session at the end of the class. Expect homework assignments!
