What we’re about
We have four active groups: Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough. Each group is run independently. The Durham Practice Group has started meeting in person again, post-Covid. Each group is separate decides how to run for itself (zoom, in-person, etc.) Please refer to the specific event for the details and instructions.

We are a diverse, inclusive group of NVC teachers, students, supporters, and friends located in the Triangle Area of North Carolina, U.S.A. We have some additional information about our group on http://www.trinvc.org/ .
Our Intention: To support each other in connecting compassionately through the practice of NVC.
What is NVC? It stands for Non-Violent Communication, as inspired by the work and lives of MLK, Jr and Ghandi, but developed by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D.
There is a lot on the web and on Youtube to orient you if you are interested, especially some great videos of Marshall describing or engaging in the NVC process.
From the http://cnvc.org website:
"
NVC begins by assuming that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs.
"
NVC attempts to answer the question of how we can stay connected within our own integrity while reaching out and finding ways to connect with everyone's needs, hopefully resulting in strategies that bring the most peace, the most harmony, and the most authenticity.

Compassionate Connection is an experienced-based, body-centered exploration of the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) that meets monthly. Now and for the foreseeable future, we meet online via Zoom.
We practice NVC techniques together that support our capacity to hear and speak authentic truth consistently, reliably, with clarity, with heart. We explore connecting with ourselves and others with ease, acceptance, warm curiosity, and compassion.
Our focus is Mutuality and Presence, inviting participants to be fully present to all that is arising and to engage in giving, receiving, and witnessing empathy as we support each other using NVC principles.
What we observe and experience together can be applied immediately to connect with compassion in all situations, enabling us to be of more service to more people in more ways, helping us "be the change we wish to see in the world." (M.K. Gandhi)

Gathering Guidelines
- We gather to learn, share, and practice the principles of NVC.
- We agree to use NVC languaging when speaking in the gathering; i.e., "giraffe" language.
- If we feel "jackal" languaging is required to communicate something specific, we agree to speak using "I" statements only.
- We agree to speak and act with respect and compassion toward other participants and toward ourselves.
We hope you can join us to share a time of Mutuality and Presence through deep listening, community support, and compassionate connection.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is based on the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication (www.cnvc.org).
"Every bit of compassionate connection gets spread. And whoever it's spread to, spreads it to others. I'm sure if enough of it gets spread, we're going to have a world someday where there's no starvation, and we get our needs met without any violence, psychological or otherwise." ~ Marshall Rosenberg
A request: TriNVC pays for a Zoom account, a Meetup account, and a website. To help support our community, would you be willing to send a contribution by PayPal to donate@trinvc.org? TriNVC has not done the paperwork to be set up as a nonprofit so contributions are not tax-deductible, but your generosity is very much appreciated in any amount. Thanks for considering this request...
