It is in every industry magazine and constantly mentioned by Gartner and others that provide insight into industry trends. 36% of companies surveyed by Talend are looking at big data projects compared to 24% last year. But what is big data? And more importantly what does it mean to those of us in the data profession, developers and DBAs? This session will explain what big data is, what various platforms exist in the big data space, will provide an overview of the components of the Hadoop stack and present insight about the big data road map to help you know what you need to know in the world of big data.

Speaker: Kevin Goode is the manager of Database Services at Inmar. He has 18 years of IT experience; 15 years of which has been SQL Server focused starting with version 6.5 and the past 18 months have had a focus on Big Data, Hadoop and NoSQL. He has worked in many industries including manufacturing, distribution and logistics, financial services, IT outsourcing and has worked for several fortune 500 companies. His specialties include SQL Server development, Performance Tuning, Business Intelligence, and ETL.
