TriAUG October - IaC Using Azure DevOps and Azure Resource Manager

Infrastructure as Code is becoming more common as companies continue moving to the cloud. Azure provides a great interface for managing your infrastructure as code via ARM Templates and the Azure Resource Manager API. In this meetup we will discuss what the Azure Resource Manager is, author a simple ARM template to deploy a PaaS service, and create build and release pipelines in Azure DevOps to deploy the template to Azure in a dependable and repeatable way. Along the way you’ll pick up some tips and tricks that might make deploying your template to multiple environments a little easier.

John Martin has been with Relias for 2 years and currently holds the position of Senior System Administrator. While mainly operations focused, he has a growing interest in DevOps tooling, culture, and the development lifecycle. As the company transitioned into utilizing Azure PaaS for new workloads, his primary focus has revolved around learning and introducing the adoption of infrastructure as code in order to bridge the gap between the development and operations teams.
