gRPC: From Protocol Buffers to High-Performance Microservices

In the upcoming meetup, we’re going to dive into the wonderful world of gRPC! We’ll discuss the implementation gRPC as well as its advantages, emphasizing its efficiency in building high-performance, language-agnostic, and robust microservices. We will dip our toes into what exactly are protocol buffers and how their approach to serialization plays such an important role in gRPC’s ability to transfer data efficiently. We’ll go through a comprehensive comparison between gRPC and other prevalent protocols such as REST and GraphQL as well, shedding light on the unique strengths and trade-offs. Finally we will dive into a live interactive demo where we will design the APIs of two microservices, compile those proto definitions, and lastly, build a simple client that can interact with the two servers, showcasing the power and simplicity of gRPC.
