Details
ABOUT OUR DISCUSSION GROUP:
We have about 9 or so regulars in our semi-monthly discussion group. Come join us. Better yet, become a regular so you can get to know us. We keep the group fairly small (6 to 9 people) so that we can hear everyone's views.
OUR TOPIC:
IS ART NECESSARY FOR SOCIETY?
Below are a few of the questions we'll present:
1. What is “necessary” in “Is Art Necessary for Society?”.
For physical survival? Mental survival?
Going forward, let’s assume we’re talking about both physical and mental survival.
2. How does art contribute to a society or culture?”
3. Does art facilitate social change?
4. How does art shape history?
Has art ever revealed historical facts
about a culture when other means have not?
5. What would the world be like without books?
Without paintings? Without music?
RESPECT
We ask that no one interrupts another while they are speaking. Also, to keep any individual from dominating the group, speaking time for each person will be limited to about a minute.
WHERE WE MEET:
We usually meet in my living room which comfortably seats 8 or 9 people, but until my puppy becomes more civilized and less savage, we may be meeting in a North Raleigh cafe this time, (or at Jim's house).
Address will be given privately to those who respond yes.
