We have some amazing talks planned for you!
Our lineup of speakers include...
Eve Porcello - Co-owner & instructor for Moon Highway
"Building GraphQL Clients with Apollo React Hooks"
There’s a new way to consume data from a GraphQL API in a React application, and you guessed it: it’s React Hooks! In this talk, Eve Porcello will take a closer look at how to make use of Apollo’s new React Hooks package to integrate GraphQL data with a React user interface. Along the way, we’ll learn more about writing queries, mutations, and subscriptions and how to start using these tools in your applications right away.
(P.S. - Eve will be teaching a full day, fullstack GraphQL workshop in Raleigh on October 16. Meetup members can get a discount with this link: https://ti.to/moonhighway/graphql-raleigh/discount/modernweb)
Ben Acker - Product Engineer, Joyent, Inc.
"Holiday Escape Room"
Each year I create a series of puzzles for my children to have fun solving. Each year they're a little different. This talk examines the technologies and hardware I use to make them, and details how some of the puzzles from the past, present, and future are made!
Patrick Steger
"Developing for the Cloud: Infrastructure as Code and the AWS CDK"
Until recently AWS CloudFormation was the only official means of deploying infrastructure as code on AWS. Recently AWS released the CDK (Cloud Development Kit) which allows developers to deploy infrastructure as code in a way that might be more readable for them.
Ben McCormick - Engineering Manager, Kustomer
"Principles of Reusable UI Component Design"
Most modern JavaScript frameworks are based on some type of component model. This has been a huge step forward for architecture on the web, but how do we think through what should be a component? Where do we draw the lines? This will be a quick walk through a set of principles for selecting and designing reusable UI components.
Hope to see you there!
