Core Longsword Class

Details
This class is our main German Longsword class. New TSG students, students unfamiliar with the German Liechtenauer Tradition, or those who are interested in focusing on longsword fundamentals should first attend our Longsword Fundamentals class.
Our core class is composed of three, one-hour segments. These segments include:
-
Longsword Study Group - This segment is run more as a workshop and less as a traditional martial arts class. We pick one longsword text and work our way through it as a group, interpreting fundamental techniques as we go. This class gives students the opportunity to discover how actions were performed straight from a historical texts themselves.
-
Longsword Core Drills - This segment is designed to work on core longsword techniques (the Liecthenauer stucke) using three types of drills, a fundamental warmup, set plays, and TSG's Core Drill. The core drill is designed to give students a structured progression through the intermediate longsword level.
-
Sparring / Open training / Secondary Weapons - The last hour of class is reserved as a flexible use training time. Most often we use this to do free sparring. We may also do sparring drills or rules based fights, as alternate training tools. Occasionally some people will break off and train other weapons during this time as well.
Please note: In order for members to particpate we need everyone to sign a participation waiver. Although we do everything we can to train safely and effectively, with all martial arts there is always a risk of injury. These waivers ensure that no one, participants and teachers a like, is put in undue legal risk. Both forms can be found at http://hemaalliance.com/?page_id=1019 . Please print, sign, and bring both forms to practice. Waivers will also be available at pratice if you need them. Thanks!
