Triangle Analysts Meetup (useRs welcome)
Details
Next Research Triangle Analysts meeting is March 15, and we'll have programming: "Have an Idea, Need an Idea"
"Have an Idea, Need an Idea" will be held at the Earth Fare in the same shopping center as Trali. The program will last 6:30-7:30pm and will run as follows:
- We have 10 slots of 4 minutes each. Anyone can sign up to talk about either 1) A cool thing they've done that they'd like to share, or 2) An application where they're looking for some input from other analysts.
- Each talk lasts for 4 minutes, with 1 minute for input and questions.
- After the sessions, we walk across the parking lot to Trali, where you can have a drink and chat about your ideas to your heart's content.
Please post to the group to sign up to talk about something neat you've done or a problem you have. It can be as complicated as "Here's a new algorithm for this crazy model I've always wanted to do" or as simple as "I want to do this kind of analysis, but I don't know which software will work or where to start."
Yes, 4 minutes isn't much time, but that's the beauty of this: You don't have to spend a lot of time preparing. Just think about something interesting you're doing and have a couple of talking points about it. We don't have projection equipment, so you can't even prepare visuals (I'll have a white board that you can use to draw.) The purpose is not so much to explain what you're doing in depth, but to start a conversation with colleagues who might be able to help or add to what you're working on.
The informal programming also means it's not big deal if you have to show up late--or if you decide to do a talk at the last minute. Join us when you can or just join us at Trali for drinks around 7:30.
