British Grand Prix

Details

So, F1.com made it impossible to copy and pace the full legal name of the Grands Prix and I'm too lazy to type out the whole thing. Until further notice, event titles will be brief.

We came into Austria with a lot of questions and some juicy off-track drama. We start off with the rumours surrounding Ferrari leadership- Did Ferrari fire Fred Vasseur? He wasn't at the race. Did you notice? Me neither.

I mean, at the end of the day, Ferrari gonna Ferrari. And there's nothing any of us can do about it. Maybe Lawrence Stroll will buy them too and we'll have a second junior team on the grid.

Lando secured pole by the largest margin of the season and other than a small lapse in concentration about ten laps into the race, looked comfortably in control. Piastri was closing in during the last run, but realistically never had a chance at the win. (insert "Norris is back, baby!" joke here.)

Kimi Antonelli denies that George promised him his bonus money if he took out Max. The incident was quietly ignored throughout the race and the youngster was handed a three grid place penalty for this coming weekend.

Notable performances-
-Liam Lawson had the measure of his teammate for the first time in his formula one career. He was the last driver still on the lead lap at the end of the race and put in a solid performance over the entire weekend. 1 out of 11 ain't bad... Oh, wait. Yes it is. It's very bad.
-Lance Stroll outqualified Alonso for the first time this year. Too bad he also had to race as well.
-Bortaletto made it into Q3, drove a solid race had some good support from the pit wall and came home with his first F1 points ever!

I usually write a bit about notable misses here, but since I've been really cranky in the last bit and my flight is getting ready to board, I'm going to skip it for now. If I'm feeling inspired later, I might take it on.

Anyhoo- The Circus heads to Silverstone this weekend. Maybe Lewis will be inspired by his home fans. Maybe Tsunoda will finally figure out that second Red Bull. Maybe the fans will be able to get into and out of the circuit in a calm and organized manner. Questions like this are what keep us coming back every week.

We'll be back at the Goat in Durham, join us on the patio, weather permitting.
