The Last One Of The Year! (Abu Dhabi Grand Prix)
Details
Last week I said that McLaren had to screw up twice for Max to still be in the title race heading to the season finale. Zak Brown said, "Hold my beer." And then proceeded to make the worst strategy call since the season finale of 2010. (and at least Ferrari had the excuse that they were covering off one of the challengers for the title)
In 2007, internal fighting at McLaren allowed Ferrari to sneak Kimi Raikkonen into first place by one point. In 2025, they seem dead set on achieving the same thing without any of the outward shows of animosity. At this point, I think they can do it.
Some things you might have missed if you (like me) spent most of the race trying to figure out what the hell Oli Cartlidge was thinking.
...
So, I had a look back through the highlights and, well, not much happened. Ocon collected a bunch of 5 second penalties, Gasly ran into someone, Hamilton made it from the back of the grid to the lower middle and Jolyon Palmer made a valiant effort to spin that strategy decision into something that made sense.
Hopefully, Abu Dhabi will be more exciting on track! Join us for the season finale at The Goat in Durham.
