  • Rubber boots or sturdy shoes
  • Work gloves, shovels, and garden shears, if available
  • Water and snacks

This volunteer event, co-sponsored by the New River Conservancy, the NC Wildlife Federation’s High Country Wild Chapter, Trout Unlimited, NC Works, Mountain True and the Upper New Riverkeeper will focus on planting native trees along the South Fork of the New River with the goal of reducing erosion and enhancing habitat for local wildlife. A few days before the event, Joe Johnson with New River Conservancy will reach out with additional details.
