Intro To OpenSocial
OpenSocial is dedicated to helping all knowledge workers collaborate seamlessly at work. We do this by developing technology for applications to connect to each other in a standard way.
The Activity Streams standard has been a great method for allowing activities to flow across social systems, but there has not been a standard way for these activities to connect to and invoke the applications that created them.
To address this need, OpenSocial has launched a project being spearheaded by SugarCRM and IBM for defining Actions and Action Handlers for activity streams. Actions define what can be done with an activity and action handlers provide a flexible mechanism for activities to “phone home” when these actions get invoked. Now is the time to engage with OpenSocial on this idea and others like it so that we can work together to make applications Be Social Together.
