Title: Real-time data analysis with Storm and Beacon
Speaker: Nick Poore, IBM Emerging Technologies, jStart Team
Storm and IBM's jStart Beacon - Storm is an open source distributed realtime computation system. Storm allows a developer to easily build scalable and fault-tolerant applications that will process streaming data from multiple data sources. Storm does processing in realtime what Hadoop does in batch process. jStart Beacon is web based application designed for line of business users that need to build Storm applications without writing code. Beacon uses a drag and drop UI look and feel to allow a user to design their application from their data inputs and have these big data apps up and running in minutes. In this talk we will go over some of what Storm does and its similarities/differences to Hadoop and we will also discuss how IBM is using Storm to delivery big data analytics applications built by line of business users. More info about jStart Beacon can be found at: www.ibm.com/beacon
