Big Data and Machine Learning for Fighting Fraud in Financial Services

The payment landscape is evolving, the laws and regulations are going deeper to enforce safer and easier payments. Each day, we receive millions of transactions of which only a few hundred are fraudulent.

This meetup will have two presentations:

• Haakon will present the architecture of our fraud prevention real-time system.
• Cyril will show how machine learning can be used at various levels to improve performance and reduce manual labour.

We conclude the sessions with some reflections and open questions regarding challenges and opportunities ahead of us: expansion into new markets (EU) and domains (Anti Money Laundering).

About the presenters:
Haakon Dybdahl is CTO for fraud prevention in EVRY. He did his PhD at NTNU on computer architecture. He has experience from several big tech companies.

Cyril Banino-Rokkon­es is a French computer scientist who has lived in Norway for the last 16 years. Cyril has broad experience from the Internet, Oil & Gas and Telecom industry. He joined EVRY in 2018 to head the Artificial Intelligence team in the Fraud Prevention group.
